I prefer the older, not as complicated non-CGI stuff, like the old WB cartoons, HB, Disney, etc. What does that say about a person like me? ^^

Are going to be young, or at the very least quite immature.
As people get older the "world" sort of expands - additional interests and the maturity to match behavior to the audience develops. Not to mention life itself changes - as an independent adult it would be a bit hard to "live for anime" as it seems so many young fans do.
No problem, always good for an extra voice.

Yeah, I guess when people are young they don't really have much worries so they're free to be way too enthusiastic about what they like.
As most people have said here it seems that people will at least watch drastically less anime from when they were younger when they find more hobbies, and maybe change their Facebook profile pictures from anime characters to themselves. XD

Well, I was more into anime in Junior High.
I liked different kinds, and it was something that kept me amused and happy since I was not popular enough with the kids.

The more I made friends, however, the more I grew out of it.
I watch it once in awhile...but eh.
However
People who live it and go, "OMG SASUKE IS MY HUBBY" or "I'm a vampire from this series" or actually try to make it their life...can either scare me or make my eyes automatically go up to the ceiling.
Especially if they're college aged.
And lemme tell you...I saw plenty of that at my old city college

Coffee prevents me from killing you.

Yeah tell me about it. I don't know anyone in my area who's like that, but I know that there are countless numbers on the internet.
They're the type of people that give anime a bad name and make stereotypes, as well as not really helping the international image of Japan.

That depends on many factors.

I watch anime since I was nine, and now 15 years later I still like them and find them interesting.

Also, I know some people that act just like Kayci described, I think it's childish and of course it gets on my nerves. On the other side, just few of my friends like watching anime.

To improve is to change, to be perfect is to change often.

I've been watching it since I was a kid and our local TV station was airing Sailor Moon
Now I'm not a kid anymore, but I still watch the ones that interest me, also, I believe that most of Anime I watch are not for kids at all.
So...if you like something enough, you probably won't abandon it, probably just turn it into a kind of a hobby.

My Blog --> steelpetite (anime, manga, movies, JDrama, music, japan..)

Mmmm, you can't really generalise on this issue, everyone's different. I find myself returning to anime/manga every once in a while, and then bein addicted for months and then having periods of nothing. I know some friends who have simply stopped reading/watching and moved on. However, some of those who don't read/watch anymore are still eager when the topic comes up.
There's just a wide range of ways in which we grow with anime & manga.

Of course there are many older fans of it which I don't deny, but they seem to be in a relative minority.

So have you personally watched a lot of anime before and stopped now?
Or has someone you know or know of grown out of it?

When I say this, I don't mean anime that's MEANT for children such as Pokemon or Dragonball Z, athough I have no doubt there's probably older people still watching those somewhere out there...

I'd consider myself someone who has grown out of anime. I'm 18 and I just don't find it appealing any more. All the mainstream anime just seems a little too younger-oriented to me, and I don't even find any non-mainstream animes that much different. There are maybe one or two series I still hold onto, but nothing near the amount of series that I watched before.
well.. they have particular anime/manga for a particular age group^^
you cannot love "shonen" anime/manga like pokemon or whatever coz your 18 now ...you could have fun watching/reading the anime/manga made for your AGE GROUP..and above! ...you should try "seinen" or "jedaigeku" type of anime/manga ...i'm 19 now.. and i still enjoy watching anime^^
