how to tell if it's shounen or shoujo? you'd have to know what is the target of the magazine it ran/runs in. for example: many people think azumanga daiou is a shoujo manga because of it's large girl cast and the anime's theme song/ending theme are pretty sugary. and i'm sure many girls love the series in japan as well as america. but technically it's seinen, or young adult male. it ran in a magazine called dengeki daiou, for young men. another example is love hina. again, many people think it's shoujo because of the romance. but it ran in shounen magazine, a boys' comic. get it now? (^_^)

Uhmm.. i don't really think it matters what magazine it's in? Isn't shojou just, well, any elements that are pretty much directed to a female audience? Just because it didn't appear in a shojou or shounen magazine doesn't mean it isn't one.
Those mangas that do appear in magazines just mean that they are highly recommended or it is very popular and are categorized by genre. Bypassing all that. Hanazakari Kimitachi He is my favourite manga ^^. So far I've only got volumes 1-16. I'll be buying the rest soon =D andand Ouran High School Host Club is my favourite anime! But I love the manga too, though I've only got volumes 1-5. <33 --- lies are so deeply ingrained they become reality. --- |
