Higurashi no Naku Koro ni is a strange anime.

You watch episode 1 and you think it's a complete joke, it makes pokemon look sophisticated, but give it a few episodes and then come the baseball bats, the knives and the needles and hmm... it's not what I thought it was.

Kemonozume also sounds interesting, will check it out next.

These both sound good.

Anything from the author of Eden should be good. I really liked how phylisophical the first volume of Eden was. When I read volume 2 and 3 it lost all its thought provoking meaning and just became entertainment for entertainment value (although it did seem to have some anti-war messages) so I stopped reading. I wonder why it changed so drasticly, pressure from the editor possibly?

Haggis, the one you mentioned, is it licensed in english?

I saw that one with the bats and needles and stuff at best buy. I almost bought it but it was ridiculously priced for just a few episodes...anime is expencive...

Anyway, I just startted reading monster, its very good. Its alot more realistic then other manga I have read.

The more time passes the more older folk there will be into anime/manga, for the same reason that my 60 year old aunt still loves Elvis, we just take these things with us.
I am lucky enough to have made it to 31, and introduced our 8 year old to age appropriate things as time has passed, as I wanted her to appreciate the anime is in itself an art form. My husband was always sceptical of these things, until we went to see Spirited Away and he couldn't take his eyes of it, said how beatiful it was and how high the quality of the art work was compared to many films out there.

The story lines and images used in much of the manga/anime we love has so much more quality to it than soap operas and reality shows and much of the other crap that 'adults' watch, so who cares what anyone thinks!

So true, Lucia. I think when we are young we assume we aren't going to like the same things as when we are adults, because we see that adults aren't into them. But I am over 30 and still love playing video games and reading comics.

I know I shouldnt be reserecting this thread, since it died a long time ago, but I thought I would just mention that I startted watching this show and I love it. Its full of mystery and suspence.

Oh and I love the fact that the first half of the first episode was all happy and chearfull. It just made it super creepy when all the little girls startted getting all evil.

When Walt Disney first was marketing his short films i.e. "cartoons" they were shown in the intermissions at movies where only adults attended.
