I can probably read 400-500 kanji. I can write maybe 200 of those. Its amazing how fast one can forget how to write kanji if you don't write everyday. I'm currently a student majoring in Japanese Studies.

I can read and write 60 odd Chinese Chars... So, I can understand them when they're labelled as "Kanji", but if asked to READ it, I wouldn't be able to say it in Japanese... I hope that makes sense... lol

I'm randomly picking these chars up as I live with Chinese people!!! I should start learning Mandarin properly one of these days ... hmmm!

I'm currently learning Kanji after work at home. Mostly with THIS game. After I can complete a level perfectly, I write all the Kanjis down I just learned.

My goal is like 2000 Long way to go...

I can recognize/write maybe a little over 126 after a few months of studying on and off, but I don't know the readings for any of them.

That depends. I can fluently speak Mandarin, and read and write it too. I'd say I know about over 2,000 in Chinese. But in Japanese it has different readings. For Japanese, the Kanji that I have mastered the readings for are about 200~. Well, I've written some basic sentences in Japanese with Kanji, but that's all. I've also started printing the lyrics that I set in front when I sing using some Kanji(it used to be romaji then only hiragana) so I could remember the reading faster. I'm trying to do this in a conveniently as possible since I have less time because of school. I've been studying since the beginning of summer, and I'm doing worse than I should, but I'm really trying, hopefully I'll get 20 or so memorized this Thanksgiving break.

Oh, it certainly does! I'm at 120 Kanji characters now But most of them I can only read. I'll start practicing the writing when I'm able to master Kana properly...
