Do Japanese students get free education in public school?
I'm pretty sure when they enter college, they need to pay tuition. How about elementary school? high school? middle school? |

Quote:
Public elementary and junior high schools have no tuition. You pay for other things, but not tuition. This is regardless of grades, tests, etc. Those are private schools, which charge for tuition outside Japan also. |

Public education is always free. Part of the whole "public" thing is the fact every citizen pays taxes, the government then supplies the public education with some of that money.
