I do - i think that if a person murders a dog for example then they qualify for the death penalty.
Of course not. I don't even think it'd be right to execute a 17 year-old kid who has committed a murder. I don't support death penalty, besides I think that being locked in a cell for a lifetime is way worse than being killed. Murderers don't even deserve to be killed, they should be tortured until they begged to be killed, then give them a knive and let them take their life in their own hands.

I agree...killing a dog isn't the same as killing an insect(which are always where you least expect them...). I mean, I would be devastated(?) if one of my dogs were to die or to see a cat, deer, or oppossum as roadkill...not so much as a though....I guess being a girl I wasn't born with such feelings for bugs....

I would have to agree with Suki on the punishment, but as for the question you're asking, yes, they should be punished in the same way. Animal cruelty is not only sick, and wrong, and an outright disgusting way to get yourself off, but it's also quite often been seen as a pre-cursor to other violent crimes, like murder, rape, etc.

And, since I know they're out there, for people that enjoy the kind of pain that should be caused to them, I say we lock them up nice and tight in a dark, damp, cold, sound-proof little room, handcuffed to a pole or something, with only a few small intakes for air. Normal prison cells make them too well heard. If they knew noone was hearing their screams, I think it'd screw them up royally, since most are attention-whores anyway.

Humans are animals and on earth it's survival of the fittest.
It's not right for anyone to be hurting anyone. But it happens and that's life.
The best thing you can do is not hurt anyone yourself. Physically and emotionally. That way you're not contributing to the cycle.

I'm glad of that but I still think more should be done. Most serial killers start off by torturing and killing animals, so would it not make sense to stop these monsters before they move on to humans?
Lol, imprisoned cos you killed your cat by mistake? Manslaughter for killing animals?
Where would such laws end. Everything requires balance and you can't just see things in two-dimensional terms.
Yes its totally wrong to kill animals but only the sick pricks of society do so. The reason why they are sick pricks needs to be remedied. Adding to the prison population won't do Sweet F.A.
On top of that, resources are strained enough dealing with human crime, in cities anyway.
Such people should be punished and of course even imprisoned when they've been found guilty. Pumpum however is trying to be a bit too controversial here by saying that if the death penalty existed for killing humans, it should exist for killing animals too.
That is what I disagree with.

That Is what i am saying - that actually human life and animal life are of the same value.

but you just made me think of something - if somebody killed a human by mistake - yeah that would be manslaughter but if a person killed their pet by mistake - would that be animal slaughter - i dunno where i stand on that one !

I disagree about that. Yes it's wrong to kill animals as i've said and I would never do it to get my Jollies off it. I don't think animal life is more important though.
Example. If you had to rescue your baby and a pet from a burning building and could only save one of them, who would you go for?
