Does America have racism problems? Hell yes. Every day. But I would contend that progress is happening.
I guess you're right. Like I said, I don't really know much about America and I've never been there... As for France, you can take my word for it, even Koaku knows about it. Racism is extremely alive here. It's to the point that, when people ask me where I'm from, I say England instead of Algeria to save myself from the prejudgements and dirty looks etc.

I'm pretty sure there is A LOT of progress in the US, but the reason I made that post was in reply to what Koaku said. It was something along the lines of America not being racist. So I just replied with my experience of Xbox Live, which you described to be not so accurate. But one thing I will say, is that; even though on xbox live 75% of the time, they don't know what they're saying, it's pretty bad that they even have the thought about it! People generally show their true colours when they're anonymous!

I have seen Sicko, and I always take Michael Moore movies with a grain of salt. Just like me and you and everyone, he gives A perspective. I never take his words as as gospel, but they do give jumping off ponts for research.

Having lived in Japan and experieced the medical system there, I have some familiarity with a "socialized" medical system.

In Japan, for example, after giving birth to a baby, the mother and baby spend 4 to 8 days in the hospital under close supervision to ensure everything is fine (sometimes it takes a day or two for the mothers milk to flow, etc).

In the US generally after having a baby the mother and child spend 1 to 2 nights in the hospital. Instructions are given what to do when the umbilical cord loosens, etc.

Why is that?

Because spending the night in the maternity ward in America costs about 1500 US dollars a night. So it is in their best interest to get you out.

Think about that.

American hospitals do whatever they can to get you out of the hospital. Japanese hospitals do whatever they can to take care of you.

Oh my!!!... It's really that expensive in America!!! I wouldn't be able to survive over there then. Here in France, I have an insurance for $300 per year (the most expensive choice). With this, I have all medical visits (seing doctors, dentists etc) refunded 100%, same with all prescription medicine etc... If I didn't have the insurance, last year, I would have spent $5k. But because of insurance, it only cost me $300. With what you described about America, I don't think I could afford it, and I don't see how most of the middle class can either

So there is a good chance your store has felt the brunt of the repression we are going through.

Even if you live in a place that it hasn't, you can't deny that the US economy is is a serious low right now. Some call it a "perfect storm" of high oil prices, weak dollar, a jump in unemployment, some big dives in the stock market this week.

I mean, if you can shine the turd that has been our economy over the last 7 years, please do.
