Hmm; I'd have to agree that trying to base an friendship; or any other relationship for that matter on diet alone is a little naive..
Ehh; I only post to try to enlighten others that there is more than one reason that people are vegetarian I don't like it when other veggies try to stop people from eating meat because they don't; it's like some one else trying to make me eat meat because they do; it just doesn't work... it's why organisations like the Vegetarian Society piss me off; they force it down your throat (no pun intended) so very very right -~Moddess ~- ▲ ▲ ▲ |

I'm a vegetarian, and it's sometimes a major pain in the ass. My sister still laughs at me when I remind her that I won't join her for a burger because I believe it's wrong to eat other living creatures, especially ones that have probably been mistreated and given all kinds of hormones and stuff to faten them up. Hang in there.

"if you don't eat meat, what do you eat?" is the classic question you get when telling people that you're a vegetarian/vegan.
I've been a vegetarian for 10 years and every time I sit down with my family for dinner I still get the same crap about my lifestyle. In the beginning you just don't care, but when you hear the same thing over and over again every time you sit down to eat with someone you get pretty tired. Why is it so difficult for some people to just accept that not everyone makes the same choices, be it eating habits, religion, sexual orientation, clothing style etc.? F*** social norms! We're just two lost souls swimming in a fishbowl Year after Year |

ill be honest veggies just piss me off - not just randomly but when your with a group of friends and u go to the local takeaway or something and everyone has the same thing and then ONE person asks for something vegetarian and BLAM everyone else's food goes cold while waiting for the vegetarian shit to be cooked. I hate that. i reckon being vegetarian and attention seeking are quite closely aligned.

I don't know why I find the first few posts humorous, but I do.
My best buddy is a vegitarian. His reason is because he simply doesn't like the taste of most meats; he'll eat a bit, but not most. Good, healthy, life-preserving decision with a good enough explanation for me to discern that he's not being an idiot. But perhaps the main reason why others give vegitarians a hard time is because a lot, not all or most, but a lot, of vegitarians are vegitarians because it's a popular thing to do, or rather popular because it's "different". Instead of eating what they like and being happy about it, they label themselves in order to stand out and seek attention. For the most part, some people are just turned off to meat, to which there is absolutly no problem so long as you state it as such; making your personal dieting habits a main source of drama in your life is only asking for those around you to agree to the fact that you're either a moron or have very little else of importance to concern yourself with. That, and most vegitarians who can't give a good enough answer to their life choices can't give a good enough answer to some questions "meat-eaters" have for them: - Incizers. Why else do we have them? - Is looking slightly pale, due to the fact that you eat nothing but veggies, a healthy life-perserving decision? - Evolutionary theory shows that most herbavores aren't high up on the evolutionary food chain; humans seem to be pretty near the top of it. Explain this contingency. How in the world do people reach 1,000+ posts? Skadoosh.

If you are a healthy vegetarian then good for you, I have vegetarian friends, and all is good, we sit, eat ,sometimes I pic from their plates but the conversation is almost never about the food or eating habits, I know, they know, so there is no need to make a big deal about it.
but when we talk about it i just dont get it, I understand a person that eats mostly vegetables for the variety of flavors, I don't undestand vegetarians, humans are omnivorous and we should take advantage of it to keep ourselves healty,if you don't like meat from a big slaughter house for the way they treat the animals, eat animals grown naturaly, it's the same with the veggies and the fertilizers and all the other stuff that they put into them. those are some of the things i like to point out, but is their decition. so dont make a big deal about it and some day try a realy good seasoned salmon. it's delitious.
