I know of a song that I hope will cheer you up. -Tegami (Letter):Angela Aki (just search on You Tube if you can't find the song) Remember, people do make fun of things that they themselves are unsure of,simply just to assure themselves of their own sense of security. In a nutshell, these people feels insecure about diversity |

After I moved in with my dad to start at a new school my Sophomore year, I had the opportunity to take Japanese, and was going to, until m dad told me it was a waste of my time, and I should take Spanish since many Americans speak Spanish. He told me it would help me to get a job better, when i told him I wanted to do Graphic design and that I didn't want to learn Spanish he got mad at me. Even after one of his close friends told him that I should be learning Japanese, bc it would be useful if I did persue a career in GD, he still forced me to take Spanish. It wasn't until recently that, now that I'm a senior, and going to a school that doesn't offer Japanese, has he accepted my new career choice (Teaching English in Japan.) and tried helping me to learn Japanese, even getting me pc programs similar to Rosetta Stone.

I got made fun of severely.
Still do, even as I graduate high school in June. In 5th grade, I was still very beginning on learning more about japan and the language. And two witch twins came up to me, and said, "They bombed Hawai'i! You're anti-american!" And people assume I like the culture, and so I must totally be obsessed with anime. Not. (However, I do read manga.) I sometimes use japanese when I'm startled or excited without thinking. It's bad, but hey, at least I say more than "Kawaii" or "desu." And I don't have a high pitch voice anymore, so that's out the window xDD I even get made fun of by adults who catch me using it with friends or if I use it by accident with my boyfriend. I was part of the anime/japanese culture club, and I was VP. However, after the President left, me and the teacher overseer had a misunderstanding, and when I told her she wasn't being fair, she quit. Stupid biotch. It was really stupid, too. But that was when I was 15. ._.; However, I normally don't mind it now- I had spread my interest into other languages, and just because I'm white doesn't mean I should think english is number one. ;/ Edit; About trying to be Japanese, screw that. I do bow by habit, which is something I got used to in martial arts. but that's it. I'm just me. :/ |

1. Have no dreams to make them happen, and usually no goals for the future. 2. Just want to bring you down with them, as most of them are not semi or fully open-minded and never have been (probably). You just stick to your dream/goal, like I do. I dream of living, working and enjoying my life (not that I don't enjoy now.. hehe) in Japan. But first, I want to go on a working holiday to have a more realistic view of Japan. I've never been there so... Peace |
