The regular flu does like 40,000 dead in the states each years.

Gimme a stick and I'll make a masterpiece out of it, go figure.

My apologies, I was speaking of the 29 deaths in Mexico as well.

Exactly.

And why exactly this Swine Flue thing is raiding the news now is beyond me.

Thanks Debi, I was honestly wondering about that. It's weird how they had such a big fuss about swine flu and yet regular flu isn't considered a pandemic. Why is that?

I would blame majority of news sources because they tend to over-hype these types of things...and of course, many people are also guilty of believing everything they hear without looking into it first.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the rename of the flu was part due to the fact that it isn't Swine Flu (from pigs).

Yes.
What makes news stations money? Viewers. What keeps viewers attention? Scary stories.

Basically.... it's like this:

If you go to Mexico and eat raw pigs, then you probably will get swine flu.
It's not some world wide chaotic new rapidly spreading disease that kills everyone.

I'm literally more scared of that spider I just killed in my bathroom.

I don't mind them as much as when I was a kid, but I still jump on the inside when I see one
