I doubt they will return to South Korea in the long run. Young South Korean would rather live overseas than live in South Korea.

1. Christians are persecuting Buddhists (I'm Buddhist and I definitely oppose the right wing Christian-ized government) in South Korea.
2. Mainstream politicians don't care about South Korean citizens since their ancestors were historically corrupted supporters of the fascist Imperial Japanese government.
3. Economy hasn't been fixed for over a decade.
4. Majority of South Korean politicians are fearfully pro-American for decades that it doesn't care about South Korea.

South Korea is as bad as North Korea if you think about it.
That all sounds interesting.

The pay levels in Korea also seem increasingly bad compared to many Western countries..

I always though of South Korea as being a highly successful democracy, a high standard of living and top technology..

I guess I thought good on a few poijnts, but something is missing from my mind about Korea..

Most South Korean people I speak to in Cairns just do not feel happy with their country.. Sad Really..

Oh and yes, their is a huge Church presence here with Koreans which as you say, is ashame, considering they are buddhists..

Cheers - Oz

Except for working under tech or auto companies.

South Korea never had a successful democracy. Never been and never will.

Think of this: Koreans are socially Confucian, very direct opposite from respecting democracy.

Asian countries will never become democracy because of our Confucian values. It's just our way of life conflicts with democracy.

South Korea ranks one of the very lowest among OECD countries (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) in standard of living.

That's very true. Same in the USA and Canada.

Consider they are Buddhist-Confucian.

I agree with the Nations agenda but you have to admit, North Korea is way out of whack!

Not really. Both North Korea and the rest of the world are whacked up.

This isn't a good vs. evil conflict we commonly know in the media.

It's really a "lesser of many evils" sort of thing

Here's the ironic thing.

Why can't the Japanese government ban the existence of the Chosen Soren (North Korean representative organization in Japan) with its thousands of supporters (both Japanese and Koreans with North Korean passports)?

It'll make things easier through the Japanese parliament's direct actions.

Overall we see more inconvienient oddities about North Korea vs. the Rest of the World issues. There are so many holes in the story that many people don't know and it's too one-sided.

Seriously, people panicking about this? It's like people panicking about an imaginary boogy man.

On another note towards the original thread topic, it would be great to see more friendship between Japan and South Korea and I really do think that Japan should offer a formal apologoy for war time attrocities it commited towards the South.

War is hell, there isn't much you could apolgize for. Look at the war between the States, nobody apologizes about anything there and they pounded the hell out of each other.

I also agree that more often than not, good/evil has nothing to do with these conflicts. Politics are allways involved in these things, as long as national interests are considered to be at stake. It's why no one does anything about the genicide in Darfur...Darfur has no real natural resource anybody wants, so nobody does anything.
