I agree. I think it's a huge step forward when people are more aware of the consequences of our actions.

Taking into account your post above this one, then I agree that their lives should be valued. Not farmed to extinction, but having some sort of limit.

However, what the extremists do, sickens me even more personally. They sink ships, and danger the lives of those who DO the fishing.

Exchanging a humans life for a whales life, in my opinion, not the way to go. The fishermen are only doing their job in order to support their families, and get some money.

Taking into account the natural balance as I mentioned, perishment/extinction of species has been said to usually be a slow and gradual happening. We are accelerating the extinction of many species that have developed after the extinction of the dinosaurs.

Let's say: a meteoroid never had reached Earth. Theoretically, there would have been a wider range of species. The extinction of 1 or 2 species wouldn't matter much, but nowadays life has a lot more value. If we humans continue to destroy most animals, there won't be enough left over for nature to develop new species in the future (which is an extremely long process). And we all need animals for our short- and long-term development.

After the extinction of most dinosaurs, mammals had the chance to develop like never before. But what if mammals (excluding humans) would disappear? Then perhaps insects would have the chance to develop like never before. And I for one, don't want that to happen.

I've never tried whale, but I'll try almost anything once. (Mountain oysters being the only thing I can think of off the top of my head that I wouldn't try)

I've never cared for any type of extremist. What's the point in using violence to get your point across. It only makes your point less noticeable than your actions.

My ex-boyfriend's aunt is Filipino [she actually met his uncle for the first time in the Philippines [they met online]]. She said that fish eyes are a delicacy there and my ex confirmed it saying last time he was at there house she made fish and popped the eyes out and ate them like candy. I guess it could just be her household or something, but to each their own
