I won't buy Chinese products, especially food. I mean, who remember that baby food scandal that kiled some kids and sickened so many more? I don't trust them to fry an egg for me now, frankly.

This dog thing; it is going too far. If the reason is rabies or disease, there are tests they can do to see if the dog is ill. What they're doing is little different than nuking Africa because so many have HIV.

In the 1970s and 1980s, people around the world had avoided Made in Taiwan or South Korea products.
In the 1990s and 2000s, people around the world have avoided Made in China products.

I see an interesting pattern.

The dogs don't have it much worse than the people. I do not, and never have bought Chinese products. Not one piece of clothing nor single pair of shoes in my closet is made in China. I look at the label of every item I buy, and I will not buy anything that says "Made in China" ever, no matter what the brand name, price, or quality.

Here in Japan a pair of Chinese made New Balance shoes is about $50, a pair of US made New Balance shoes is $200. I happily spent the $200. I would rather my money went to pay American workers who work 40 hours a week for $10 an hour rather than to pay Chinese workers who get 10 cents an hour and work 70 hours a week.

I don't avoid Chinese products because of cruelty to dogs or people, I buy things made in my country because it is the right thing to do. The money I spend on American (or Japanese, since I now live in Japan) products goes to my neighbors, and they use that money to buy goods and services which myself and other neighbors may provide.

Anyone who complains about America outsourcing jobs to other countries while wearing Nike shoes made in China should keep his hypocritical mouth shut.

I tend to avoid buying stuff that says Made in China simply because in past experiences the quality of the items I got were terrible.

It had nothing to do with animal abuse, which is a global problem.

How is putting them out of work going to fix any problems? I can understand if you dislike Chinese policy and won't by their clothes, but the reason you give here is pretty retarded.

China does not have slave labour. The people work these jobs because it is the best or only work they can find. The thought of people not buying their products would dishearten them even further. Boycotting Chinese products may have a good political impact in the end, but the negative side effect is a lot of poor people are going to be out of work, and you think this is a good thing?

Also, it is more like a 120 hour week, but with about 40 cents per hour. I know, my wife used to make cheap underwear in a Thai sweatshop.
