I met Joey Ramone's girlfriend after he died. She's Japanese from Osaka. She had some great stories from the old days (before most here were born according to one post I saw here today). That was when Punk was really Punk and it never will be ever again. Sad.

i kinda agree with you it does seem like people treat punk as a fashion statement the same way they do with emo

well i guess you could consider me an "emo" most people do >.> its annoying, but in my opinion it really is a music genre there are TRUE emo bands, but as a fashion statement i think people just do it for the attention
