He'll be forgotten about as soon as all the fans he had when he was alive are dead.

Not really, they pass on the music, I mean no one forgot about the beatles... Jimi Hendrix... Etc... People pass on the music of others, and other people eventually get into it and pass it on. He's never gonna be forgotten.

No one forgot about them because, regardless of how many drugs they took, their original fanbase is still alive.

Yeah, and as long as they are referred to in the media, which they usually still are, they will be remembered. Whether they're fanbase stays the same, or grows a little more.

Are you saying all-time greatest band and all-time greatest guitar player will be forgoten after their original fanbase will be gone?

I'm saying people change, views change, music changes. For something to live for forever it has to be truly timeless. There are few things like that.

Take movies for example. There were thousands of blockbusters, but I can think of only a few which have stood the years; Lawrence of Arabia and Ben Hur.

In music, there is Mozart and Beethoven. When you look at what makes Beethoven popular today, and even I listen to it, is its timeless value. It does not belong to a certain era, nor does it present a specific fashion.

I think the best way to guess if music will be popular in the future is considering whether it would have been enjoyed in the past. If you took the bans you've listed to Beethoven and his audience, would they be impressed?

They'd probably wonder how they make music with electric guitars and stuff.
