I am looking at a U.S. Government computer right now and it says "White of Hispanic Origin". Not Latino! It also says "Black or African American". Are you going to bitch about that too? Who cares about Sotomayor, she claimed she was a smart Latina. Puerto Rico is not in Latin America, it is in the Caribbean.
You win. I give up. The people who think they are so smart get the rest of us who are too tired and frustrated.
Just because the government says so, doesnt mean they are right. These whole race names thing is really difficult, confusing and mess up to explain. I just dont like these race names and im getting really F**ing tired of it. WTF is these white of hispanic origin, black or african american, etc. We are all Americans, if you were born in the US or became a citizen. And for everybody information, there's only 3 types of races of human in this world: Mongoloid, Negroid, and Caucasoid and you cant argue about that.
So i dont see a point of having these stupid sub-race names. Just a bunch of ignorant. Dont know what im talking about? research these names.

This thread isn't coming to any conclusion.....what was the point of this again? I'd be interested to hear the OP's purpose for this thread.

I won't argue with that. And you are right about the 3 races. It's just that there were too many Mercedesjin's out there wanting to be politically correct and bitching about it. F--- politically correct.
Oh, add to that "Other" for a mix of races.

Good article, and helps prove my point. I hope you read it.

Welfare may have started out as a helping agency, but it has very much become an enabling one.

That's very different from saying that welfare was designed to keep certain people down. I tend to believe the article more than that notion.

People who live on welfare for too long tend to become dependent on welfare. It changes their worldview.

Dependence also breeds helplessness and despair. The person may feel he or she cannot make it on their own so they may give up trying.

I agree with this notion, too, and welfare reform is something that needs to take place. I think this spins in with the unable to break the bonds of slavery notion.
We already discussed it. I thought we reached a conclusion, but apparently I'm wrong. Maybe I'm not understanding the question, and you should try rewording it. Or, if you really are that fed up with me, then you can ignore me - but I'd like to understand what you're trying to tell me, and the point you want to make.

I did read it. Like I've said, I'm not a scholar on the issue. I said that there are ideas and theories, that are interesting to me. Both sides are seen in this article, unless I didn't really read it properly. I simply meant to share that with you. Not get into another argument. It seems that you've enjoyed it and learned from it also, though. I'm glad.

Sub-races are important to me, because it's easier to stereotype a larger group of people. It's kind of like what others were complaining about before. They didn't like being called "Mexican" just because they were Latino. There isn't one large mesh of Asian cultures. There isn't one large mesh of European cultures. Each sub-race and associated sub-culture are unique and beautiful, and deserve to be studied and preserved, rather than lumped together into one large race like some kind of 1984/Brave New World monstrosity.

Also, the words "Caucasian", "Mongloid," and "Negroid" are inherently racist because they imply that "Caucasian" is the superior race.

Caucasian is a Dirty Word.

I highly doubt most people see the word "Caucasian" as implying "superiority".

That's why people should learn the history of these racist words. We don't know because we came from a racist society. We're now trying to come together as one people, but there are still ancient, racist ways blocking that from happening. These words are just one example.

You know what it means now. Are you still going to use it?

I'm not going to judge you negatively if you decide to still use it. I think it's kind of hard to let go of these sorts of things. When you've been raised your entire life to say "caucasian," that's kind of just stripping away at everything you know. That's how I felt when I found out that Disney was racist. I LOVE Disney movies. They're still my favorite, even after I learned that he was racist. That's one thing that I can't let go of, even after learning more about him.
