Why wouldn't you ban someone for using "white trash"?

If that's really a double standard that you've seen, then maybe you - as a mod - can start to look at how you've reacted to those double standards. Maybe the next time you see someone use "white trash" you can ban them, because that's also a derogatory term.

Hell, you could even start with me if you wanted. (I actually feel really bad now for using that word just to make a point in a thread.)

Of course it's taught from generation to generation... You can't evolve without passing information.

It's not just "my opinion". Honestly, there's no denying evolutionary racism.

I think words have levels. "white trash" is not offensive to me in any way.

No one I have seen has used the term (before today) so I have never had to think about it.

Some words are more offensive than others. Maybe you want to call that a "double standard" but I have banned people for using profanity to insult someone, but not for words like "dumb". Different words have different levels.

But isn't that just your opinion? What if there's someone who is offended by being called "white trash"? What if there's a white man or woman on this forum that grew up as an outcast because they were white? Would you still think that, because you don't find it offensive, it doesn't matter?

There are words that are more offensive than others. That's something I've learned. At the same time, it also depends on the person. You might not find "white trash" offensive, but there are people who do.

Unless I misunderstood burkhartdesu, and he was simply saying that the philosophy exists - not that he believes in it. Or maybe he meant something else. I don't know.
