We don't have SATs up in Canada. Each class just has a national standardized final, and you must pass certain classes with a given percentage along with an overage average to get into university. Most of the generic ones are like:
Must have a *30 (A, B, C, Calculus) Math, a *30 (A, B, C) English, *20/30 (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) Science, and so forth.

I know what an SAT is, darksyndrem. You do not HAVE to take them in NC to graduate from high school. I hear they are required to graduate in most states, but I could be wrong.

In NC, they are optional for students who are looking to go to top notch universities. But if you want to go to a community college, then most students skip the SAT.

It's mandatory-ish depending on the state. Meh.

I got an 1100 when I took mine back w hen it was on the 1600 point scale. Admittedly I was sick and fell asleep for part of it.. >_<;;

But it really does kinda affect your college entrance options. So do your best, all you younguns who are taking it soon.

wow... surprised that no one actually answered this directly xDD
but mmm... they've updated the test since your time
they added a writing section~
so now you can score 800x3 = 2400 lolz
xD
and according to the 'bell' curve, i guess, the majority of test takers are expected to score like 1400-1600.
Asians, of course, are expected to make atleast a 2300 >.>'''
especially when you consider how much money mommy and daddy blow on little julie and kevin jr. (when they're still in the 6th grade) just to raise their SAT score like... a few points higher, lol >.>"""

And unless your school has something totally stuck up it's arse~ it shouldn't be mandatory to take the SAT since it does absolutely nothing for you in high school =.='''
IMHO, SAT is supposed to be an optional exam, lolz
making it mandatory just creates unnecessary stress for those that intend to take it anyway >.>"''

oh and i guess a bit of background information =P
i did take teh psat in junior year and scored like 5th highest in my high school and was like in the 30 percentile nationally >.>'
In my practice SAT's i scored an average of 1600 (but note that i always slept through more than half the test o.o' )

I've also taken an SAT class in senior year.. of which was actually intellectually enjoyable~ =P
sooo yeah xD
i'm not a total idiot =D

I felt so stupid when i found out my score. I guess I got that score because of the math. I am NOT good at math. I couldn't solve an algebraic equation to save my life. LMFAO. I wish that they would get rid of the damn test. I hate it. It's so much unnecessary stress.
ehh... and to address this xDD
did you take a 2 or 3 part exam? o.o'
(basically, did you do a writing section?)

if you took a 2 part, then you're basically average~

if you took a 3 part.... well... fyl >.>'''
retake? :3

I am 3/4 of the way committed to taking it. I would really like to get a bachelors, and, if I do, I'm going to do it right.

So, I've been researching the SAT recently, and study aids (I really need to brush up on my algebra -- don't get me wrong, I love it, it's just not my friend).

Of course, I would kill for a perfect score, but I haven't decided what the lowest I will accept is. If I try hard enough, I think a 2400 is attainable for me, especially because you can miss a few and still ace the exam.

Yuujirou, if you go to Number2.com, it seems to be a pretty good representation of what the test will be.

Thanks for updating me. I had no idea it had changed.
