*sigh* Why is it whenever I come back to this site after an extended...err.."break" there's some big controversy? Oh well. Good topic, MMM. A lot of us know what all this fear-mongering is about, and it has nothing to do with his speech, or that assignment. I'll leave it at that. I don't have the arguing/debating energy the rest of you have.

Everyone agrees there needs to be a change in health care but since we cant agree on how to do it they would rather leave a broken system in place tell me how is this rational?

The whole writing to the President thing was blown out of proportion. I had do the same thing for Regan and for Clinton so WTF in the difference now? I refuse to by into this conspiracy and BS notions that fear mongers and some posters here have be spewing out their mouths.

It makes me sick sometimes to even read some of the comments and i cant help but to hope that some of these people never breed and teach their children their retarded ways. There is and was nothing wrong with the leader of the country addressing the next generation and say do your best, stay in school, get a good education. It scares me that some people think this is a bad thing seriously it does and I beg you people please don't ever have children as a matter never be responsible for another life.

Frankly when you galvanize Obamanism in town halls with candy cane gumdrop nirvana plans that will be paid for from money out of thin air which he can't explain to save his life (even today in any of the bills in the senate), shoving insane wealth distribution plans down the throats of a recession moving to a depression....

yeah.... yeah... your going to get strange reaction to ANYTHING that comes up next... like... "done with the townhalls" "now that I finished with telling everyone how its going to be and how Americans must behave now, I'll go talk to the school children, and here is what the teacher should make the students write". Oh yes... your going to get that reaction...

The next generation will be the ones to implement real change.

meh!!

Wow..... I mean... wow...

A little short sided are we summing up the entire American population like this.

You sound a little bitter my friend..

If your going to paint a picture of hell and all American as cold hearted demons pushing starving children into the flames while dining on kitten and puppy stew, at least lets not forget the sacrifice America makes for the rest of the world at the expense of itself.

A truley sick post. I might be a fool falling for this troll bait, but I'll be the first.

You're somewhat right... it has to do with Obama's lack of credibility and character. Combine that with a homework assignment that sounds disturbingly Orwellian, and the result is perfectly natural. I trust Obama as far as I can throw him, and when he supplements that with even a hint of shady dealings, he isn't going to get the benefit of the doubt.

And Obama isn't stupid, he's going for the Khrushchev method. Since I'm sure you don't know what that is either, I'll explain. Khrushchev said: “You Americans are so gullible. No, you won’t accept communism outright; but we’ll keep feeding you small doses of Socialism until you will finally wake up and find that you already have communism. We won’t have to fight you; we will so weaken your economy until you fall like overripe fruit into our hands.” That is Obama's plan, to wreck our economy with massive debt and inflation (due to his unprecedented spending and increases in the money supply), and then "Only government can save you".

It's like boiling a frog, if you've heard that anecdote. If you throw a frog into boiling water, it'll jump right out. But if you put it into warm water and slowly turn up the heat, it will stay in and get cooked. Your line (I'm paraphrasing) amounts to "he's not a socialist until we are in boiling water, and it's not quite boiling yet..." reminded me of that story.
For ALL you wrote on this issue, you are my heroin. THANK YOU.

I'm printing and framing your entire posted thread as tears roll down my eyes.

How interesting that the second half of you post is lambasting someone for oversimplifying and being bitter when the first half of your post is bitter and oversimplifies (or more accurately misrepresents) the issues.

You're welcome! I know I'm probably in the minority around here politically, but I'm glad someone appreciates my views.

Orwellian. Classic. Say he REFUSED to release the speech ahead of time again. That's my favorite line.

President Obama didn't ask the question "What can you do to help the president?". The Dept. of Education did. They retracted it by request and without protest. However, people still want to bring it up.

He gave a good speech to the kids that many conservatives who had criticized him for making backed away from. (including the head of the Florida GOP who called it "indoctrination" and "brainwashing").

What is being served by continuing an argument that has, for all intents and purposes, failed?

What is being served now is to answer the critics who are posting what, to me, seem like veiled cries of "racism!" Let me be 100% crystal clear on this... opposing Obama is not racism. Disliking Obama's policies and ideology is not racism. I would very happily support other black people for President, such as Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams or Michael Steele. I am just as opposed to Obama as I would be a white man with the same ideology and background... no more and no less.

You know what IS an example of racism? All the people who voted for Obama because he is black, and "it's about time we had a black President", no matter who he is, what he believes, how little experience he has, or who he associates with.

Not meth... just Jolt cola mixed with a half-dozen of those 5-hour energy shots!
