The canines are the teeth next to the incisors (the front four teeth). They are on both the top and bottom rows of teeth, but I think they're the most prevalent in the top row.

I may not look it but I'm related to a Japanese family somewhere in my family tree. It's on my fathers side of the family. Anyways, I have some really noticeable canines. Still, I don't think I see to many Japanese people with canine teeth to make this statement true in anyway.
