Some of the people use cell phones much because they feel lonely, they do not have much to do, not because it is necessary. It is almost the same as to play with a ring on your finger or smth like that, when you are not busy with your work/exercises, or you just are lacking in communication.

Today for a lot of people having a phone in necessary, this is because so many companies are relying on being able to easily reach their employees. Like my job for example, my schedule varies but they call me ahead of time to let me know if I'm coming in. If I didn't have a cell phone I'd be stuck waiting for them by the home phone and I wouldn't be able to run important errands. If cell phones didn't exist my company wouldn't have built that dependency on them, but they have so it's important for me to have one.

I have a cellphone and home phone like everyone else, but rarely use them. The only time I call someone is when I'm making an appointment, organizing an event or in case of an emergency. For communication I prefer to either see the person face to face or email them.
It's practical to use a cellphone a lot in certain jobs (a friend of mine is a stockbroker) but I see a lot of people that rely on them too much - to the point where it becomes an obsession. Nobody is perfect.
I am nobody. Therefore, I am perfect. |
