こんばんは! なまえは ミッキ です。
Hehe.
Hi! I'm Mikki, 18 years old and I'm from the wonderful*cough* country of Holland. I've been learning Japanese by myself for.. well, not that long, actually. I can read hiragana and katakana characters and I know some words. I'd really like to master the language and go to Japan for some time. Any other things concerning Japanese? Yep. I like watching anime and reading manga(in English, though!) and I enjoy listening to Jpop/Jrock like UVERworld, ORANGE RANGE, L'arc~en~Ciel, P'unk~en~Ciel, SIAM SHADE, etc. Of course I also listen to regular English music.
Why I came here? I might learn something here and get in touch with some people.

Hi. and welcome.

I have a correction. I think it's Nihongo, not Nihonjin. If I remember correctly, Nihonjin means Japanese person, not the Japanese language.

also, do people who aren't Japanese use honorifics after their own name?
I don't think they're supposed to?
For that matter, do Japanese people even use an honorific after their own name?
Does anyone know? (just wondering, that's all)

I seem to remember that using "-san" after one's own name is thought of as very arrogant and self-glorifying. It's similar to calling yourself "the esteemed so-and-so", and doesn't make you look all that good.

Fortunately, there is one woman in this world who can control me.

Unfortunately for you, she is not here.

Minasan Konnichiwa~

My real name is Melissa but i usually just go by Misa.
i'm a 22 year old female who lives in the u.s.(texas) and has always been interested in almost everything japan related since i was in middle school.
i would very much like to go to japan and maybe live there one day but for now id really like to make some japanese friends(and non-japanese friends as well~) and learn the japanese language. im not very good at it and iv never really taken any japanese lessons mainly due to the fact that all the schools and colleges that i have gone to dont ever offer them. i hope to learn a few more things about japanese culture, living there, and well, anything else about japan

.:alittle more about me:.
my current obsession: Arashi!!!! and everything related to them
last anime watched: code geass
last manga read: welcome to the n.h.k.
last j-drama watched: Hana Yori Dango i love love love j-dramas!
as far as music i'm open to any genre but at the moment i currently listen to alot of j-rock and j-pop and my two all time favorite bands are Plastic Tree and Arashi. of course i have many more favorites but these two i can never get tired of.

i hope to make some friends here!!

see you all around~
