Name: Matt
Coming from: SF, California
first breath: 10/10/1983
intentions: make friends and gain intel before going to Japan in Aug.
Occupation: Dentist (I just graduated last month)
Why go to Japan: First vacation on my own. Interested in the culture and history (I used to do lots of martial art; I love cooking, and Japanese is my secondary style; guitarbuilding; fixed gears; pastries, etc). Also, the people are super nice and great at presentation. And, I'm a closet manga nut.

Bah, I had an account on here before, but I forgot the user name...

A second introduction shouldn't hurt.

Name: Deanna ( Dee - Anna )
Coming to you from: Maine
First Breath: 4 / 18 / 1992
intentions and whatnot: I was actually looking up a Japanese forum where I could be introduced to even more Japanese, learn about it more from those who have experienced it and just to be around people via internet that share the same interest.
why do you want to go to japan: Tata to those typical, silly American sterotypes who want to go there just for the anime and manga. Not saying I'm not into anime, but that's not my intention.
I've been interested in Japan since the tender age of 8. I'd run home around 3:00 after school just to catch the final moments of Cardcaptor Sakura. When I was 9 I dressed up in a kimono for Halloween. The language itself interested me, the sound, the way it was spoken. I used to huddle up with 3 of my siblings and we'd draw "anime-style" together. My mother was also interested, would hand us plushies she found, so on, so on. So almost my whole family was into the whole Japanese-vibe.
I decided when I was young I wanted to go to Japan, and live there. And I'm putting that dream into my daily life. Every day I study Japanese, or do something "Japanese" to prep myself.
I found out my dream to own a bakery in Japan was to be cut short, so I'm taking the easy route as most call it : ALT , JET.
I'm in my last year of high school now, planning on getting a bachelors degree and making my dream a reality. I hope to move there with my sister and my mother one day to enjoy the beauty of Japan, the culture and the way of life.

Name: Laura S Dorman
Coming to you from: Germany
First Breath: 02/09/1988
intentions and whatnot: I would love to me. I used to watch Tenchi in english but now I refuse to watch anything dubbed. My obsession eet Japanese people A) to practice my Japanese. It's difficult just saying it to yourself. Also I like to talk! And here I can talk a lot
why do you want to go to japan: Ever since I saw an episode of Sesame Street and the little boy was talking about how he wrote the word rain I have been interested in all Asian culture. My love for Japan grew when I started watching pokemon! I then found some cool music on youtube from Morning Musume and YMCK! I started watching Anime and reading some Manga. Tbh I wasn't really into Manga as much as Animgrew. I then started learning Japanese at school and really got into it. Now I'm doing it myself and doing quite well!

So please if you are around the Yokosuka area lets be ともだち! ^__^

intentions and whatnot: I've always loved many aspects of the Japanese culture, but recently my intrests have grown, and I'm looking forward to learning more, and talking to like minded people.
why do you want to go to japan: As with alot of people, I would love to learn Japanese, but I would want to do so before actually going to Japan. I hate it when people go to other countries without making the effort to learn the language first. I would also love to learn various arts, espicailly to learn to play the Shamisen.
