Hi, i'm new here!!!

coming through from New York, USA

I stumbled across this community quite by accident

My name is Elizabeth

Actually what really returned me to my interests in Asian culture, was
mostly because of the music in video games (and the video games themselves as well).

I've been playing games since I first started breathing practically and watching cartoons from when I was little kid (Gigantor, Speed Racer), Godzilla movies, The Master Akira Kurosawa --I also have the same birthday as him, he would have been 101 yars old on the 23rd of this month).

Several years ago I went through an abusive and traumatizing experience in my life and I was getting feelings that my personal life was in jeopardy of being cornered, antagonized, isolated, alienated, desensitized, depersonalized, repressed and anti-social in nature== most music also to me was progressively getting extremely morbidly boring, staid, suffocating, stagnant, mundane, expressionless and redundant and pretensious.

Collecting Pokemon toys for my kids, the cards, anime cartoons, the manga, The games, the music, the movies all piqued my interests.

Listening to MUCC for the first time. That's what started my road to recovery and new found strength and confidence in myself and changed my whole perspective on life, it woke me up!

Throughout my whole life, I've always loved to learn about new languages and etymology and appreciating different cultures throughout the globe and just learning in general. Japan is just one of them.

Extremely refreshing!

Maybe because I am just naturally curious and I just love learning about new things in general to keep
my brain active and not turn it into an ameoba like-resembling type mush.

If I'm not reading a dictionary and there's nothing around to read I'll start reading the Encyclopedia. I just love to read anything and everything.

Hi - 03-18-2011, 02:47 PM

Hi,

I am from the country which hundreds of years ago was the first to reach and establish friendship, diplomatic and commercial relations with Japan.
Long History aside I love Japan for the culture, for Japan's economic success and for the huge sense of honor, commitment and determination Japanese people have. I just wish all countries could be a bit like that.
And I am just here to make public to all Japanese that the catastrophe you suffered with the earthquake, tsunami and the the nuclear problem shadows all our hearts and soul.
Be sure the world knows how to help the ones that are respected.
About what I like from Japan ... well I am a personal Fan of Yamaha Sports Motorbike , not that Suzuki, Honda and Kawasaki are bad ,... but Yamaha was always my brand . I have 2 currently. But also working on IT I can not forget all other things around me with the made in Japan stamp on them.
I also love a lot of the sci-fi comics that today are almost classics of that style. Very good stuff.

To make it short my prayers to those we all have lost and I am sure that Japan with the help of all other friend countries will rise Very Soon from this disaster!

Friendship forever from Portugal!

Hello everyone.
I am Japanese currently living in Tokyo.
I recently found a lot of voices encouraging and supporting us from you in this site and just wanted to say thanks to all of you.

Now we have to save electricity for Tohoku people so I had to read many of your words in a cold and dark room, but your words warmed up my heart .

I am usually internet-shy but here maybe I can provide a little help for people needing language support etc. It's the least I can do to express my appreciation.

That's nice of you to say that!
Please ignore the few people on this forum who are delusional, there's always an insane minority wherever you go

Keep hope Yasuto! がんばれ!!
