I don't know about the keyboard layout, but if you want to learn kana, you can go to the games section at studyjapanese.org. They have a kana challenge there for both kana. Also, if you want to learn kanji, they have Jouyou Kanji Practice sheets.

Thanks for the info on the Kanji practice sheets, Spoonybard.

Minamo9, check out Latkey for keyboard stickers. The have various colors and styles and it makes it much easier to use foreign keyboard programming than having to check a printout of the template while trying to write. Thanks to them I now have two auxillary keyboards for my laptop - one for Japanese and one for Korean.

There is another thread that is discussing the fact that no one in Japan actually uses the Japanese key layout. Pretty much everyone uses the romaji input method - which you should be able to use with no problems without having a Japanese keyboard or knowing the kana keyboard layout. There should be some kind of setting to change input to the romaji method.

If anyone is trying to find me… Tamyuun on Instagram is probably the easiest.

I forgot to mention that J-List/Box sells kana keyboards:

JBOX.com Search : keyboard
