There are tons of fans here, but my city is too small and poor to have anything other than that. There are a few projects in my school library that are Twilight related, and the librarian set up a small display of the books (why, I'll never know). But that's about it.

I'm a full on Anti-Twilighter, so if my city decides to do anything Twilight related, I'll be bashing whoever is in charge with strongly worded letters

I walked past a sex shop yesterday, and saw Twilight condoms and Twilight lingerie for sale.

Seriously, what sane person would buy that. 90% of Twilight fans are fat (No offence to obese people :P) horny teenage girls. Where would they find the need to use these?

Also, a man that strips his bird to find Edward Cullen's face on the bra and panties, and then is handed a twilight condom will be damn angry about it. I know I would.

Unless he's gay, then I don't know what he'd be doing with a girl then.

What? What!? Oh crimeny; and I thought the Eddie Sullen brand body glitter for men was bad enough.

Also I cannot think of anything more disturbing than his face on a condom. He gnaws through Bella's uterus for crying out loud. Is that what you want to be reminded of at a time like that?

Then again... visual contraceptive.

Sorry, sorry, it's body 'shimmer'. You know, because that makes it less stupid and more manly for all those... real men... who shop at Hot Topic...

Also for the season: Amazon.com: Twilight "Edward" Stocking: Toys & Games

Doesn't that just make you feel christmassy!

I went to Icing by Claire's the other day and I saw Edward Cullen cologne. Everything you could put his face on was in Hot Topic; diaries, T-shirts, calendars, pencils, keychains, and more. I saw so much jewelry and makeup with 'Edward' on it I wanted to burn the damn store. Even my college store is selling portfolios and notebooks with his face on 'em.

I'm scared to go shopping again until this fad passes over in a few years.

You elitists should be hating on the hack author not the fans who are almost victims.

"smart" is a simple word, she's a lucky hack just like many before her.

I don't know, actually, I don't think she's as bad as Dan Brown. His book was just as poorly written but it was clearly quite a calculated money spinner; he knew what to write that would stir the waters from things he'd already studied. The one that rocketed him to fame also wasn't his first book, Smeyer's was.

Smeyer, in contrast, doesn't have that kind of background to support such a theory. Her writings simply have something in them (a bit mills and boonish, really, with hip goffik overtones) that appeal narrowly to bored housewives and teenage girls; ie females with a strong ability to suspend belief from reality. In other words, she's not smart enough to manipulate the market; she is just already so close to the mindset of her readers that it has massive appeal.
