heyhey, anyone know where to find some nice 99/100 yen shops in tokyo?

i only found one close to the station @ shinjuku so far.

i was hoping there would be more, preferable around shinjuku harajuku and shibuya area.

thanks in advance

Shinjuku is the worst place to look for 100-yen shops as it isn't a residential area. Hop on the train and go to the next station in any direction. I personally recommend Shin-Okubo, which is on the Yamanote Line. It has two huge ones and a couple of smaller ones. You can even walk there from Shinjuku in 10 minutes. Just go straight north.

There is a large one in the middle of Takeshita Street in Harajuku if you're going there.

Wherever you go, don't be afraid to ask the locals.

Is there one in either the Tokyo or Kyoto area?

This is off the beaten path but Machida-shi has a big one across from the public library.

You might want to try "Daiso" too as they have plenty in the Kanto area.

We had an Okubo in Kyoto

I totally second what you are saying thinking about it as I always saw the 99/100 yen shops in small residential shopping centres in Kyoto.

I might be remembering it wrong but I am sure there was a huge 100Y shop in harajuku about half way down the main crazy street (taleshita dori) on the left hand side as you walk down the hill, and some more in one of the little arcades of shops off to the right.
