Yet Haiti is being helped so quickly because that "evil empire" has an aircraft carrier down there and 9000 troops onshore helping with logistics. I'm sorry, but the US is no where near as bad as anyone thinks it is. Sure it may end up being world police sometimes..but it's also the worlds fireman, ambulance, disaster relief, emergency room, food center. It's all these things and it utilizes that "empiral" military to do it.
Your right though, empires do come and go, and culture with it. The high arts, technology, advanced medicine, music, advanced agriculture, advanced buildings and bridges, sewer systems, these are all born from Empires. You dont have huge leaps in mankind's cultural advancement with out said empires to protect and nurture those aspects. |

Then stop your American pride and start listening to non-Americans. For your own good.

Thank goodness I convinced my two cousins living in America to move to Canada. Not tiring for many people (esp. for non-Americans). More exciting than you think. |

regarding haiti, millitary (any military) is able to provide logistical support etc.. however the NGO's are able to get more intel due to the fact that they dont need to worry about force protection. in situations like this the 2 work together. also one needs to stop thinking of america, or the uk etc. as world police. as if its some kind of benevolent force for good. force projection has and always will be used exclusively by nations to prop up and facilitate foreign policy. which again is the same in every country in the world, i.e. make sure we come out on top |

I guess they figured we already nuked Japan once, why not? I'm not saying I agree with it, but I suppose it's nice to know we still have 1 ally out there. Maybe they're banking on Korea not being able to put their money where their mouth it.
