I say both the Japanese and our extremists need to settle down now, and that colonisation thing? Ahn Jung-gun didn't die and become called a matyr because he just shot Hirobumi. I say the Japanese were wrong to do that, but I'm sure they've pretty much learnt their lesson afterwards. Even I, as a Korean who spent almost all of her life outside of her native country, think that was too much. I guess Japan and Britain are similar in those sort of matters. But yes, most Koreans and Japanese don't really care about that anymore unless they study it or are extremists. I also think that both countries are probably well aware what we think of each other (I looked on a couple of replies on a Kin Yuna article and someone commented 'this smells like korean kimchi all over it' -_-; but I think we should just make up one day, arguing will get no-one anywhere. Lol, is that why (since my English accent is British) people are so impressed when I read from my english textbook? Do Americans seriously like that? |

The fact that China and Japan tend to "dominate" the view of Asia that many foreigners seem to have could be explained reasonably easily. Here's my hypothesis:
People 'know' China. It's that huge country with the highest population count, internet censorship and the great wall, etc. People 'know' Japan, too - it's that small, densely populated place where all the electronics, cartoons and weird things come from. I don't mean to offend anybody, but compared to these two with their relative fame/infamy (whichever suits the occasion), other Asian countries kinda fade into the background, don't they? But I digress. Sorry. |

Very Little -

I think Japanese think very little of Koreans as real people. They are more concerned with Korea celebrities etc. I have a Japanese friend who is half Korean and hides it because he fears how people will treat him. He is close to 50 years old lived all is life in Japan, knows nothing about Korea, but is sort of ashamed or afraid of what people would think if they found out he was half Korean.

In fact, another forum I participate in has a couple of regular Korean bashing Japanese members. |

I was responding to the statement that "Japanese think very little of Japanese as real people". I won't break down this statement, as it is pretty simple as it is. I believe my comment still stands. |

Oh I agree, that this is most certainly not what Japanese people on the whole think of Koreans. But I would never doubt how far a bigot's mind can carrier their hatred.

Of course, and you were right to point out the generalization. I just was pointing out that Japan is not bigot free either.
