It's a bit odd asking a question about Italy in a forum group for Japan but here's some information that might assist you:
Many have said to use the rail/train systems as they are fast, convenient and hassle free for the most part. Renting a car and driving is a headache and you encounter gridlock in certain parts. You're a lucky man,I'm Italian from Rome.
First,to move into these cities I recommend the subway to Rome and train to others. the price for the accomodation is around 20-25 euros a day,but much depends on where you want to stay. In some bed and breakfast can be as high as 4 euros a day. The food is delicious as well as being economical, a pizza can get up to about 7 euros and expected a full meal from 4 to 30 euros. I suggest you also visit Austria and Switzerland as they are very close to Italy, good trip. |
