sorry to keep quoting my japanese friend but I often watch her writing Kanji etc. She knows all the strokes so scarcely has to think about it-- she insists that it needs to be beautiful. When she writes in English her writing is also beautiful. I like tha Katakana for English names. She has to make many notes in ENGLISH at her school-- she can write really tiny letters.
Her handwriting is far superior to mine. I have hiragana and katakana books where I can copy and practice making each letter or part of words. I believe it must be extremely hard for school children to learn all the ways of writing their language but it is worthwhile. She showed me her keyboard for when she writes in Japanese and there seems to be a tab where words change to kanji in one stroke. |
