I understand, just answer whenever you wish to.
1. Do you know if there is a particular reason why parents wait between 31 to 32 days after their child's birth to take their child to a shrine for an initiation ritual? 2. I don't suppose you know about kami do you? 3. I read that when someone enters a shrine to pray, they splash water on their hands and face, and then rinse their mouth . From what you said about purification rituals, I think I understand why they splash their hands and face, but why rinse their mouths? Is it for the same reason as the hands and face? |

"Allow us to disturb you(Ujigami)" I think placate was a good choice. |

They wash their hands and rinse their mouths, because they should use hands(拍手) and mouth(祝詞) when they pray. However, they usually don't know how to recite a Shinto prayer. So only hands are used in reality. If you were a Kami, you would dislike the person whose mouth is dirty and smells bad. |

Sadly, this is only forum I found that I would have a chance to ask about it and get an answer. Its have to write a reaction paper for a world religions class, and I've always been interested in the idea of shinto so I thought this could be a chance to give myself incentive to learn about it (cause I'm lazy) |
