He didn't say Japanese men were depressed. He said the thought of being a Japanese male was depressing.

I don't want to be Japanese. I'm perfectly fine how I am.

I find this thread odd. I mean who would honestly want to change their race? Now, become a Japanese citizen, that might be worth a discussion.

Hell no.

Don't want a small-

Wait, nvm.

Too many people spend money they haven't earned, to buy things they don't want, to impress people they don't like.

Are we REALLY going to THAT STEREYOTYPICAL reason to not be Japanese?

My Life Sucks- The kids I babysit have drooled, ripped or drawn on all of the cards and put the cars with the little people in the microwave!

I have no Friends- The cats have scratched and destroyed all of the DVDs!

I always owe someone- In fact I put two os in it!

I always ruin my clothes with Bleach!- The show is so dom suspensful I spill my grape soda on them!

But . . .I'll live.

Japanese people are 1.8% of the world population, even if we limit that to non-dragons. You might want to re-consider :P

To me, whether or not I want to be another race is like if I want to be another sex. Kind of curious, but not really, if it is a permanent thing.

Most people who wish they were Japanese have never been to Japan and have probably met few (if any) Japanese in person. The Japanese people you see on dramas or read about in comic books don't exist in real life. The typical Japanese is less-than-glamorous, overworked, and underpaid. Japanese women are often vain to the point of absurdity, and Japanese men are increasingly effeminate.

All of my current friends are Japanese, they are great people, and we have a lot of fun together, but I wouldn't want to trade places with any of them.

I live in California, but I hate the town I live in. I won't say the name here. I don't really have an opinion of the rest of the state or the country because I have never been out of the town I live in. But I don't prefer America. I hate my town because of the people and the way everyone acts and just the feeling of it. Everything feels dead and stuffy and pretty depressing. If you lived here for as long as I have you would understand. But even if I didn't hate where I live I would still love to live somewhere else like Japan. I know it's not a magical wonderland like a lot of people think, I know a lot about the society there but I still want to go. It's something way different than I am used to.

I kind of know where this is coming from, but you sound really bitter... And there is a saying in Japanese. 類は友を呼ぶ (people congregate with their own types). A lot of my Japanese friends are attractive, maybe a bit overworked but well paid, hehe.

Not like I think you should be wanting to be a different race though. That doesn't sound healthy if it is more than just a frivolous daydreaming, but I thought this thread is more about daydreaming not really a serious phycological evaluation. Or am I wrong?
