I said "trying to invade us", like in " Independence Day" type. Anyway, that was just a joke.

To fight against my own race, for a foreign country? Why should I?

BTW, don't worry about China invading, they already did, economicaly speaking, at least. There isn't a place on Earth where China isn't present.

Yeah, but maybe they're trying to invade because they were attacked by humans first, the public just doesn't know about this. In any case, if they're able to attack earth they must be intelligent beings, there wouldn't be much difference from humans invading your country, except that it's war on a larger scale and the aliens might not be as attractive as human invaders, but would that really make a difference to you? "Okay, my family is being raped but at least by attractive humans!"

That's just a flimsy excuse!

It doesn't necessarily have to be about war. If I was given the choice to play for Brazil in the World Cup, or Japan, I'd choose Japan. I know if I were to play for Brazil, the chances of winning the World Cup would be greater, but I would prefer to try and win it with a team I love. Tbh, on PS3 football games, I use Japan the most, and I even beat Argentina 1-0 on World Class mode.

But back to the OP's original question, I wouldn't join up to the army, but if I did, I would choose to join Japan in defence of a country I love that has a rich history and culture

This great castration you speak of greatly benefited Japan. I see what you mean that the US could have a stronger ally if they allowed them to have an army. But especially now, I think it would be in Japans best interest to have the US be their military muscle.

So can we say that if someone was trying to hurt you or your family, you wouldn't fight for them but would go to the bully down the street and ask him to do it for you? And how many years after that will you be licking the boots of said bully for his "favor?"

Even being and English girl with Japanese roots, I want to see Japan given back her rights stripped from her after WWII. Wasn't dropping two atomic bombs on the nation of my families origins enough? Maybe they don't WANT the local bully "taking up for them" and would rather fight their own fights and have their own rights. Its time for America, however good of a nation they are, to get their fingers out of everyone else business.

I wonder if you have read about the way the Japanese behaved towards Prisoners of War during the PAcific war. Maybe its time you did some research.

What a silly thing to say. In addition to what KyokoUK said above,I will point out that the Japanese SDF(Self Defense Force) is one of the most advanced and highly trained in the world. Using the silly hypothetical conflict with china,Japan would fare much better, given the country's natural terrain and the fact that the SDF would push them back with comparative ease.

The opposite is also true. Though not publicly exposed, what do you think happened to the(relatively few) Japanese POW's?

Please tell me what happened to them?

After all they were expected to commit suicide for their emperor. it being a crime to allow themselves to be captured.

Japanese attitude towards the POW WWII.
