Football followers, unite! - 12-21-2010, 01:12 AM

(Note to the mods: Can you guys move to this thread the last couple of posts I made in the thread what gift would you most desire? Also the ones from user JasonTakeshi. Thank you.)

Hey!

So I often end up talking about football in threads that have nothing to do with that matter and I felt it'd be nice to have a thread in which I can discuss football with other people and not feel like I'm derailing someone else's thread. Plus, the round of 16 is coming up! Big deal! There'll be a lot to discuss

Who do you think is getting the Ballon d'Or this year? I'm gonna go with Iniesta, but I wouldn't mind if it was Xavi instead. I know for a fact it's gonna be either one of them.

What's your favorite team? Favorite player? Goal keeper? Best league in the world? Who d'you think is gonna win this year's Champions League...?

I know these questions have pretty obvious answers, but I'll let you share your opinion even though it'll probably be wrong if it ain't the same as mine.

I should have seen this five minutes ago!!!!

Futbol.....for me.... Football is about to start here with my Bears visiting the Minnesota Vikings in the middle of a snowstorm.... That's not the real football....

Well, I'm a Real Madrid fan from birth.... [[ducks]]

My favorites are Camacho, Zoco, Di Stefano (I know he's from Argentina), Santillana

Goalie is Miguel Angel

La Liga Primera Division is best.... I don't know why they started calling it BBVA and such....

I usually support Arsenal when I watch the Premier League and Barcelona when I watch La Liga. My heart is divided now...

...But I know, Barcelona is the best team. Attention to Internazionale and Real Madrid, both have great chances to win the league too.

Best goal keeper ==> Júlio Cesar(FC Internazionale), I don't like this guy but I have to admit that he is the best.

Best Player ==> my bets on Iniesta, Messi has chances too.

Best Coach ==> no doubts, José Mourinho.

My favorite league isn't from Europe!

Anything except Barca. Really. I hate that team.

Too many people spend money they haven't earned, to buy things they don't want, to impress people they don't like.

I love football. I prefer the more physical Scottish game, to the EPL though. My team is Glasgow Celtic FC. Maybe most noted on here for the spell of Shunsuke Nakamura, & the first time a Japanese player assisted a Japanese goalscorer outside of Japan, Naka & Koki Mizuno against Falkirk. My current fav Bhoy is Ki Sung Yueng. He looks like he has potential to be a big star.

If its about fotbal (Fußball, football)*:

1. Can you name a few players which in your opinion became football legends? (you can make even a Top 5 on your list, doesn't matter if its an actual or former player)

2. Can you name one legendary goalkeeper you remember?

*instead of opening another thread can I ask here?

Reverse psychology, "dear Watson", reverse psychology.

1. Top 5 players that became football legends

- Josep Guardiola.

- Lionel Messi (he's young but already a legend).

- Maradona.

- Pelé.

- Johan Cruyff.

2. Legendary goalkeeper you remember

Mmmh. I like Víctor Valdés way too much to say one that isn't him. He might not be lengendary yet but he sure will be one day.

Nah, Real Madrid? not really. They always screw it up before getting to quarter-finals. They don't stand a better chance this year with Mou either. They're going down in both competitions, just watch them.

You know, the thing with Real Madrid is they're all good players but they don't know how to be a good team. Barça is all about cooperation and teamwork and letting the game flow, you cannot watch them play and not drop your jaw. That's how good they are.

Those who hate them are just filled with anger because their team can't make it to such high standards. The ones who know stuff about football can't deny how good Barça is. It just cannot be denied, even if it hurts you have to accept the truth. I know you all wish it was your team when you watch them play.

I agree with you wholeheartedly that Barcelona is a joy to watch, at Madrid's expense.... Actually you make sense, Madrid may pay lots of money and their payroll is huge, but they can't seem to get things done. Perhaps it's because those player have an ego as large as their paychecks. Even after all that, I still root for Madrid since that's my home team, just like I root for the Cubs, known as the "lovable losers" here, where I now currently reside....

And Suki, I'm glad you were able to make it back to this thread!
