In general people are suspicious of the government. They tend to say things are fine until it is clear they are not.

That's their attempt at not alarming people, but in the end it always back-fires so it is better for them to be clear-cut about it.

My deepest condolonces - 03-13-2011, 10:15 PM

Hi,I'm from Croatia (Mirko Cro Cop's country)

My condolences to you our dear friends especially to people who have lost someone in this terrible tragedy.I hope my government send people and aid that can somehow ease your suffering.

Just so you know Croatia is suffering with you.

During our antigovernment protests yesterday in Zagreb(capital of Croatia) 7000 people stopped to hold a minute of silence in front of Japan's ambassy and lit candles for your victims.

Stay strong my brothers.Croatia is with you.

While the JNTO (Japan National Tourism Organization) recommends one to check the news for the latest on the quake, they don't outright warn people not to go to Japan. I have seen news on MSNBC.com that states the U.S. and the U.K. are warning tourists not to go there and the French government is actually advising French nationals to leave the country as soon as possible. I don't know if any of these reports are factual and if they are if they are in any way related to the possible nuclear fallout that may occur if things worsen in Fukushima Daichi and Daini.

Has anyone else seen or read about these reports? Common sense dictates not to go there for a while just so one doesn't become a burden. I know the government will start an advertizing campaign when it thinks it's ready to allow tourists to begin visiting the affected areas. I know it's going to take a long time for that to happen.

I went to supermarket to buy nonperishable munch in case of black out. And people in the supermarket were already telling rumor about government. Just like our government is hiding the truth. When the time has come, only VIP will escape from Japan and we'll be left in the land of death blah blah blah
But I met a guy who has Geiger counter. and according to him, the level of radioactive in my neighborhood is about 12CPM which is about 0.12 micro sievert/hour. So I somehow started thinking our government is doing alright so far.

Yeah, I also advise medics to tell cancer cases that they're going to die, and if it doesn't happen, just tell them they were the lucky ones...
Now, seriously, how is better if you know that the worse can or may happen? Isn't it better to keep a positive thought on things?

That's true. What I heard is that many yakuzas are helping cops controlling the traffic.
