Kozyra; The Hebrews were one of the orginal Canaanite tribes through Abraham. The "Arabs" ancestory is from Hagar's son. Hagar was the Egyptian slave girl who was sent to Abraham by his wife Sarah, who didn't think she could concieve. However, she did concieve and her decendants are the Hebrews, who are the rightful owners of that land. Land given to them by Jehova. According to relgious texts anyway. Course everyone over there follows those...right?
Suki; Much of your logic is why the US invaded Iraq. Everyone was pissed off at Bush even though Obama is doing the same thing, some of his words are even identical to Bush's. They should just stop pussyfooting around, delcare the US the United American Empire and take the oil from them. Most of the world thinks we are the big bad guys anyhow, might as well show them what that would really mean. It's ironic that Bin ladin started this mess cause he wanted the US out of Muslim countries...we are in more of them now than ever. At this rate 3 or 4 presidents from now we probably will end up occupying the entire middle east. |

The whole idea is nonsense, and democracy in Libya after it's "revolution" is as likely as democracy in Cuba next week. These "revolutions" in the middle east generally result in one dictator replacing another, and things staying the way they always have been. It is a place where strength is respected more than ideals like democracy or freedom. Perhaps the UN is looking for another mission to "administer" aid (meaning that it wants to spend billions of dollars of member country's money, allowing UN-chosen contractors to get rich, and then give kickbacks to UN officials). |

And Obama has continued the war, even though he said that "combat operations have ceased". A play on words which means that attacks are simply called "security actions", but are no different from the "combat operations" of before. It's hilarious, but exactly what someone would expect from a president who was a law professor. Obama and the UN would be better off letting Libya settle this themselves. If Qadafi wins, so what? His successor probably would be no different than he was. |

Again, im not saying armed conflict is the answer but when do we say enough is enough and as a coalition intervene on behalf of those who can protect themselves. Im going to agree with Ryzorian a little. Maybe the US should step back and trim its role and let the world sort itself out. I wonder what the world would be like in 10 years humanity does not have the best track record of doing the "right thing" "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."
