Golden Week 2011 - 04-22-2011, 10:43 AM

Dear Members:

This thread has unfortunately been spammed by the famous Japanese-culture-hater and it will no longer serve its purpose. Please pretend the thread never existed.

@GoNative:
I never asked if people liked Golden Week or not in my opening post. I know you are retarded enough not to be able to read one word in Japanese after 7 years of living in Japan, but my opening post was in English.

Try spamming me in the Language section if you've got the guts, sicko!

I hate Golden Week. It is normally just so incredibly busy and all accommodation is at least double the normal price. It is without doubt one of the worst periods to actually try and have a holiday in Japan. I have mostly worked through GW and taken holidays at another time when it's quieter and cheaper.

it must be a nightmare really-- rather like our bank holidays when everyone rushes around-- driving or flying or taking the train to popular destinations.

Surely these things should be staggered so that not everyone are travelling at the same time.

by the way Gonative-- I loved those photo's you posted recently--not sure which thread they were on-- but they were terrific. thanks a lot.

"I hate [Insert any noun except "Hokkaido snow"] about Japan!!!"

A very familiar line from that member indeed.

It sounds like a very hectic time. I, myself, wouldn't travel there during that period quite simply because everyone else is as well! I like my holidays to be off peak times, when the crowds you see are the regular people doing their thing.

I probably should have said 'I hate attempting to travel during GW'.

So you love travelling in Japan during one of the busiest holiday periods of the whole year? You love paying at least double the normal cost for accommodation if you are able to actually find any availability to begin with? You love being in huge taffic jams in nearly every town you try and drive through? You love nearly every nice destination in the country to be incredibly crowded? It's a nice time of year but it's not a great time to travel. I've always preferred to work and take the public holidays as time in lieu to be used at a quieter and cheaper time. But hey if you're not able to do this then I guess you don't have that choice.

And making disparaging comments about any foreigner who dares have any opinon about Japan is a very familiar line from yourself.

It's going to be a busy schedule for me. I am taking the whole week off and plan on studying three texts for my upcoming exam in 書道. I've got lots of reading and research to do. Also, I have to sit on my lazy European ass and complete the dictionary of calligraphic terms for my website, which has expanded to nearly 400 terms, i need to feed it with pictures, works, maps, links and what have ya, to make it more clear and understandable for the reader. Finally I have to review 2 chapters of my book about calligraphy, before a Japanese translator has a go at it. So yeah, this will be a GW indeed lol.
