Chiune Sugihara - 05-07-2011, 04:05 AM

do any of you know of this man? I only know of him because he his the reason I exist today.....as well at 40,000 other people. He was a Japanese diplomat in Lithuania (World War II) who saved thousands of Jews by writing them visas against the orders of the Japanese government. The Jewish refugees arrived in Kobe, Japan and were relocated to Shanghai, China for the remainder of the war. After the war a good portion of the refugees from Lithuania stayed in Japan and lived there. My grandmother was one of those refugees, she stayed in Kobe and married my grandpa and raised the family there....and thats why I am a random mix of Japanese-American-German-Jewish haha

Everyone knows about Schindler but not many know about Sugihara it seems.
