I was watching a japanese horror movie today
the woman answers the phone she says woman: moshi moshi = hello guy: yuka dou (yuka dough) which is suppsosed to translate to yuka, how's it going I am confused by this, because isn't dou supposed to translate to how? So, why does that translate to, yuka, how's it going? |

Yuka dou? is an informal and short form of Yuka dou desuka?
If it's a horror movie, you can't expect them to partake in a regular phone conversation. If you'd like to follow up on this, perhaps you should join japanologic.com since the regular members of this forum have long since left. |
