Why models are portrayed as being thin and amazing, and usually seen to be healthy which in reality is so wrong. I totally agree and I can't remember where I heard it but I remember it being quoted something like "99% Blood, sweat and tears...1% makeup & outfits. There is no such thing as happiness."

And everyone keeps going on about how "ZOMG the Japanese are thin"...The Japanese aren't thin...It just seems that way because America are fatties!...In America, when we are too lazy to cook..We go to the nearest McDonalds or TacoBell...

I've never been to japan but from what I've seen/heard...They go to noodle houses..and sushi bars and things like that...Their foods may be "fatty and salty" but you also have to consider the seliam value and nutritional value that their food contains. So cultures like the Japanese are eating a very well balanced diet compared to a LOT of countries.

Just because their food has fat in it, doesn't mean it's unhealthy..It's actually GOOD if you eat food with fat in them. But when that food doesn't contain any seliam,mineral or vitamins to help break down your food as it digests ad give nutritional value...it turns into garbage food like american food.

A box of fastfood frenchfries are 98% garbage..2% potato...lol

As for the burgers. Don't get me started on all of the steroids and fillers that they feed the cows so that the meat you are eating LOOKS and tastes like meat..but 32% of it is filler and steroids...I'd rather take my chances with puffer fish then die of clogged arteries.

This also goes along with why "Japanese have such nice hair!"
Junk food like most americans eat daily..Actually dry up and destroy hair folicles all over your body, not just your head. It's not uncommon to say 'Fat bald guy!" and see one walk by.

What about Sumo wrestlers? I've seen big people in Japan I've seen tall Chines girls and boys (Yao Ming). It has allot to do with your genes and your metabolism, and family history. There's junk food in Japan Ramen noodles any one? Pokey? And I see allot of the rockers smoke so do all Japanese people smoke? Will all of Japanese people die because of it? I think before we assume we should look into it.

Waite, hold up! Some one dose not care if girls throw up to look good? Gross! where is a REAL man who likes girls with REAL bodies? Gerad, your so shallow I would never date you! Oink, Oink, Oink, dose that ring a bell Gerad? Gerad, I,being a girl will turn you down in a heartbeat if you asked me out on a date. Grow Up! I would tell those super skinny models to go grab a sandwich if their real body weight should be 150 and they are 6'1 and big boned. No one that tall should be 100 pounds or lighter! Some one small boned,5'2 or lower yes they should be 100 pounds or lighter.

Have you seen what sumo wrestlers eat? It would take me a week to eat what some of them eat in a meal.

Being tall and being obese are two different things. What you eat does affect your height, but there aren't really "unhealthy" heights.

Are you talking about instant ramen? There's not really anything in them but salt and flour...so no one is getting overweight off of instant ramen, though, yes, they aren't really that good for you.

The point is that people that eat healthy diets do not get obese.

Hey, some people are big boned and can't help being fat or chubby and not all fat people eat at Mac D's did you know way back then big was beautiful and it represent wealth. Skinny meant you were poor. Just look at Ruben's paintings look how big the girls were, I use to be overweight and it was tough because guys were so shallow and I would like to find a guy who's not and will not care how much you weigh! I lost 40+ pounds I still need to work on my body to be more fit but it was tough for me when I was growing up being teased because of my weight wishing that I could be perfect like those people in the magazines.

Just because your skinny dose not make you healthy, why is it OK for a guy to be fat or chubby, but not for a girl?, And how come guys view fat or chubby girls ugly? some of them are fit but are fat or chubby. I Hate to say it but I think men in the media likes little boys, so We have to make our selves into boys. Well you know what?! We Girls have hips and curves and we are not little boys! We are girls and the world should change the views of the media, and girls around us that it is OK to look like a Woman with all of the features that it brings, we are not Boys! I hope we can change the views before it is too late before they throw up before they kill them selves or have low self esteem like I did. It's sad but true I still think boys only like skinny girls. Also people tie in that skinny=pretty and fat=ugly and thats what was drilled into our heads at an early age when we see those models and those movie and TV stars grace are eyes with those so called perfect bodies . So Thats what I think if any one else like to hear my views You can PM any time...

1st, I was only trying to prove a point that we should not assume and no I was not trying to say there are unhealthy heights its just people assume that all Chinese people are short and every Asians are skinny. Because the first thread talked about that every Japanese person is skinny and I wanted he/or she to know not to assume things.

2nd, Processed foods have trans fat even hidden trans fat even when they say no trans fat look carefully. That is very bad and unhealthy for you. Trans fat stays in your body because your body dose not know how to break it down. And that diet cola can make you crave more sweets not really helping you on your Diet. Also, Just by drinking one coke can make you gain weight over time if you keep drinking it and all that acid will hurt your teeth by making them become brittle just ask your dentist on your next viset.

Not all Chinese people are short, and not all Japanese people are skinny, especially nowadays. \

When you talk about trans-fats you are talking about processed foods. If you don't eat so many processed foods, you don't have to worry about that. I know it might be difficult, but lets not blame genes on everything. This is cultural. Most Japanese don't drink Coke, and I don't think they even have Diet Coke in Japan.

Eating healthy is as complicated or simple as you want to make it. It takes an effort to eat healthy, and it is really easy to eat buckets of lard in the US, but, again, let's not pretend obesity is something that cannot be beaten...you did it yourself.

I think genetics do come into this as well. I have friends who eat rather average, yet they gain quiet weight quickly. They're chinese as well. Also, age comes into consideration. Once you reach 18, it's harder for you loose weight and maintain weight. Quiet frankly, I've accidently skipped lunch couple of times, and the stomach pain is unbearable. So, now, I've learnt that it's best to eat something for lunch, other wise, you'll get unbearable stomach cramps. I rather have a healthy weight, then underweight.

I definitely agree with what you're saying. The thing is, if you really think about it, organic food is a WHOLE lot expensive then unhealthy food. I should know, my mom's buying organic food all the time now. Now, I'm not trying to go ahead and say that there's no way to help yourself if you're obese or to excuse anyone, but I just think that people, go around saying,"If you're fat, just go lose weight" sometimes it's deeper than that.

Now, I have a very fast metabolism, it would take me a while to gain weight compared to the "average" person. That's what I've inherited, some people get bigboned and therefore, are just built that way and considered fat. There's a lot to consider, and just saying that it's all their fault would be a false accusation.

Just to add, I think that being "skinny" and "pretty" can have its negatives, because when you are viewed this way it's very hard to find someone who is genuine or friends that love them for who they are, as you can see by some of the ignorant posts by someone, saying he wanted a skinny girl even if she was bulemic. However, the girls who are able to exhibit their unique qualities, despite how they are looked down upon by the ignorance of the media, those girls are able to find genuine love or acceptance easier because those that do accept them, accept them because of something that goes deeper than just a pretty face

XD pokeys? my gilfriend eats pokeys like fish drink water and I have instant ramen wheneve i don't feel like cooking or when she doesn't. If I'm correct, shes about 5'6 and only weighs roughly 100 lbs and i'm 5'11 and weigh 135lbs. Yeah, i'm sure metabolism plays a roll in that..But we also eat traditional foods that the chinese eat. or usualy any kind of asian food...i think the only thing other than asian meals that she has us eat..is steak...and baked potatoes and random things like that. -.- It's all based on well balanced meals.

What are two things usually associated with asian food(stariotypically)? Rice...and noodles...

Rice has an excellent source of niacin and a moderate source of protein, thiamin and iron. It also has fiber and other vitamins. and what does fiber do? Well..if you are unaware..Fiber plays a HUUUGE roll in the bodies digestive system....which helps keep a healthy metabolism -.-

hmm...lets talk about noodles then..Again..Fiber...egg noodles actually have double the fiber as rice.

and ontop of fiber, noodles are an excellent source of Selenium, Thiamine, and Folate and some Niacin. Look of the vitamins if you want..Cause I dont wanna spam the thead with info on healthy foods.

Now...that alone..is just in the rice and noodles. NOT including any sauces, or meats or vegitables that are usualy present in asian meals.

Ameican food usualy consists of something like a fat juicy medium rare steak soaked in a boat load of grease then served with a brick of butter in your mashed potatoes and a soda...Which usualy gets refilled about 2-3 times before a nice milkshake or slice of pie/cake XD

Yes, some people cannot help how their bodies are built..But it doesnt mean they cant eat healthy to STOP their bodies from continuously gaining unwanted weight. The Japanese arent 'thin' they just have a really petite bone structure compared to...let's say the german. but everyone can lose weight and stay fit if they truely wanted to.
