Visit to Japan

We'll visit Tokyo in June for 7 days. Our plan is to spend 2 nights in Hakone (by "Romancecar"), visiting Enoshima Island & Kita-Kamakura.

Can someone help advise:
(1) what is the appropriate means of transportation to visit these 2 places while we're in Hakone?
(2) any other places of attraction in Hakone?

By "two places", do you mean Kita-Kamakura and Enoshima? These places are 40 Km away from Hakone. Refer to this site.

Kita-Kamakura is nice place to visit which has many good place to visit and is not so crowded compared with Kamakura. You should take Yokosuka-line of JR (Japan Railroad).

If you can find, visit my favorite tea room "NEST" at 10 minutes walk from Kita-Kamakura station.

Enoshima is also very nice place to visit where you will find Aquarium, restaurants and souvenir shops. You should take Enoshima-Dentetsu (Enoshima Railroad) from Sagami-Ohno where ODAKYU (for Romance Car) stops.

To get Kita-Kamakura from Enoshima, you should take taxi for 30 minutes or 8 Km. It will cost you around 2,500 JPY.

Do you mean:
- Kita-Kamakura is different from Kamakura?
- If going from Hakone to Kita-Kamakura (or Kamakura?), I should take JR?
- If going from Hakone to Enoshima, I should take the Romancecar?

May be I misunderstood how to go from Hakone to Enoshima. Am I correct I should take Enoshima Railway from Sagami-Ohno (a place in Hakone?)?

While from Kita-Kamakura (or Kamakura?) to Enoshima is a 30 minutes ride by taxi, how long does it take from Hakone to either Kita-Kamakura or Enoshima?

First, please find related places in the map. This map corresponds to 100 Km horizontally.

"KITA" means "North". "KITA-KAMAKURA" means "North part of KAMAKURA". How do you find "KITA-KAMAKURA" instead of "KAMAKURA"?

You need to change train ODA-KYU to JR at "小田原:ODAWARA" and "大船" ( sorry, I did not mark them on the map). it will take 80 to 100 minutes.

- If going from Hakone to Enoshima, I should take the Romancecar?

Yahoo transit recommends me to change train also at 小田原:ODAWARA and 藤沢：FUJISAWA while I thought changing train at SAGAMI-OHNO is better (but I'm not sure if RomanceCar stops at SAGAMI-OHNO).

As I prefer to the ENOSHIMA-line of ODAKYU, I told you this route. You can take either ODAWARA route or SAGAMI-OHNO route. (And it needs only one train change)

It will take 80 to 90 minutes from Hakone to Enoshima (ODAWARA route).

Here in this video, they introduce you to Hakone. It is basically in Japanese but interviews to foreigners are in English.



Edited: Because I was wrong misunderstanding Enoshima-Line of ODAKYU with ENODEN (Enoshima Dentetsu). ENODEN is small local line near Enoshima and can not reach to SAGAMI-OHNO.

(2) What JR Pass should I buy for going from Hakone (箱根) to Kamakura (鎌倉) and Enoshima (江之島)?
(3) Does such JR Pass cover from Kamakura (鎌倉) to Enoshima (江之島) by Enoshima-Dentetsu (江之島電鉄)?
(4) What other places will such JR Pass cover?
