I see... So if humans are responsible for say 1% (which I would say is a far better guess than 30%) of global warming, how will taking away that 1% (which is impossible, unless you stop all other countries from developing) change anything?

Also, there's a big difference between "keeping a ship from sinking" and "making the ship sink slower"... Unfortunately, it is impossible to STOP creating CO2, and whatever amount we reduce will be of NO effect.

I think some of you guys need to actually look into how much CO2 humans produce... Volcano's alone produce FAR more (around 26 times more) CO2 than anything man made and i'm not even gonna go into the other BIGGER producers of CO2, such as oceans and animals
So, if you really believe that CO2 is the cause of global warming, and you want to stop it, I suggest you block up volcano's and kill animals

First of all you're not going to convince me over what the EXPERTS are saying (not to mention the fact that volcanoes don't go off every day.)

Second of all I think that people like you are too concerned with defending your lifestyle/investments as it seems your mind is already made up regardless of what these EXPERTS are telling us.

Third... there are other reasons to invest in renewable energies and other green initiatives for the very fact that our lifestyle is unsustainable at present.

Okay, first of all. I'm not trying to convince you of anything, I wasn't even talking to you; I was simply replying to what MMM said.

Secondly, I am only repeating what EXPERTS are saying, so you really ought to check your fact's before you come and say something like that. What's worse, you actually think that volcano's need to erupt to produce CO2? haha. that's a great one...

Thirdly, You don't even know what lifestyle I have, so please don't even bother bringing your assumptions to the table.

Fourthly, When did I say that we shouldn't invest in "green" energy. The only time I mentioned green energy was to say that it isn't as green as most people think... I'm not against green energy when it involves the environment, but talking about green energy in the same sentence as global warming, is ridiculous in my opinion!!!

Biodiesel and Coal - 05-23-2008, 03:30 PM

'The train has already left the station' fyi the US (dept of energy) has already mandated that by 2015 the US will have to reduce it's use of fossil fuels by 20%. The biodiesel industry is dependent on coal and lots of water as far back as late 06' a nexus of Coal Industry and Government officials have devised a way to bring back the sagging fortunes of the coal industry. Initially, Bunning and presidential hopeful Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., coauthored the Coal-to-Liquid Fuels Promotion Act of 2007 and introduced it to the Senate in January. The majority of biodiesel plants have or will incorporate coal and massive amounts of public water. The Coal industrys track record if you visit coal minning states such as Kentucky (Appalachian mountains ) are not environmentally friendly unless polluting and levelling the landscape so it looks like a moonscape. Biodiesel is already subsidized by the US taxpayer 1$ one dollar per gallon ontop of this will be a CTL act that will
in effect subsidize the US Coal industry and its history of disregard to the environment.

Biodiesel and Coal 'CTL Act' - 05-23-2008, 06:48 PM

This is from the Sierra Clubs own website
Bill Number: HR 370
Sponsor: Geoff Davis (R-KY), Nick Rahall (D-WV)
Legislative Session: 2007

The Coal-to-Liquid Fuel Promotion Act would establish a new massively polluting industry to convert coal into liquid transportation fuel. The bill provides a variety of incentives for liquid coal, including tax incentives, loan guarantees, expanded plant siting, and a host of other government subsidies.
