I don't see any reason it would be much harder. Maybe because it's held differently, and it takes a while to get used to it's position? Usually when someone says it's hard unless you "start at a young age" it's because it's harder to adapt to it. So....the only reason I can think of is, like I said, how it's held (under the chin, extending away from the body) |

Yeah, it's all about personal abilities and talents, so generalizations like that never deter me, I just have yet to get my hands on a violin, hahaha. I'd learn myself if I had to, even if it's not the "perfect form." I shall persevere ;]
Yeah, whenever people say they play the guitar, the reaction for me is usually just "meh, that's cool," which I find annoying, since I take pride in my hard-earned skill and countless hours of practice. At times like that, I wish I could have my guitar with me and bust out classical gas or something to shove that "meh" up their arse. Hahahah, I know, that was stupid, but it's just something random that I hate. Member of the Metal Club "Ignorance is the night of the mind, but a night without moon and star" -孔夫子 |

I play piano and violin. As of now, I do play the piano more. I really haven't picked up a violin since sixth grade (I'm a freshman at high school now).
I don't really have an instrument I would like to play at the moment. I'm really content with the piano. ~C ya Never Take 'I love you', lightly.
