Japan's Smoking Rate Declines - 10-24-2008, 05:01 AM

Japan Tobacco Inc. today announced the results of its Japan Smoking Rate Survey, a study that has been carried out annually since 1965. The survey, conducted in May 2008, showed that 25.7 percent of Japanese adults are smokers, hitting a record low for the 13th straight year.

The survey showed that the smoking rate of men was 39.5 percent, the smoking rate of women was 12.9 percent and total adult smoking rate was 25.7 percent.

i'm terribly sorry since i'm about to probobly piss off a lot of smokers out there, but i'm really happy about that news. smoking is evil

Interesting... the percentage of women who smoke in New Zealand is higher than New Zealand men if I remember correctly.

It's largely due to the emphasis placed on sport and "performance" by anti-smoking campaigns here.

good news, it's pretty bad sometimes. especially me being from california and not being used to smoking in restaurants and the like.

huh? how come there are so many people in my campus smoking?? even the lecturers also join them.. huhu, I heard even Obama also smokes..
