Train Route Finder by Jorudan (English and Japanese) -

When you travel by rail or air in Japan, check out the English version of Norikae-Annai (乗換案内) provided by Jorudan. This is a Train Route Finder.
Type in station names, date and seat type, and you'll find out how to get to your destination. For mobile web access using i-mode (NTT DoCoMo), EZWeb (au by KDDI) or Yahoo! Keitai (SoftBank), follow the directions here. The Japanese version offers more services.

Good site Michigan90, as well as train routes, also gives you options for internal flights and buses as well!
That will be useful for our trip this summer. I used this site for train timetables last time I went to Japan, Enter the station name, good but it only covers trains. |

This service covers all regional and national rail networks, domestic airlines and ferries in Japan. I searched routes between Yokohama and Hakata in Fukuoka.

You are such a lifesaver, this is EXACTLY what I needed!
I leave for Japan tomorrow and getting trains was the only thing I was still nervous about, thanks! |

If you travel between Tokyo and Kyoto with Japan Rail Pass, use Hikari on the Tokaido-San'yo Shinkansen. It does not cover Nozomi. Other types of JR and non-JR rail passes are introduced here. Nationwide
