I gotta agree, places like Takadanobaba and Gotanda will probably be much better (and cheaper)

And quieter. Shibuya isn't an hour away from Akihabara or Gotanda, but literally a few minutes. How long does it take to do the entire Tokyo Loop line? An hour? A little more?

yeah, you can get to Shinjuku/Shibuya in under 15mins from Gotanda and about the same time for Shinagawa/Tokyo in the opposite direction

Im in Ueno at the moment and I like it allot. Some top places within walking distance and a excellent selection of train lines right on my door. Nezu to Harajuku is about 15-20 min train ride and that line is not as crowded as the Yamanote, also the same is true getting to Shiinjuku via okachimachi.
I walked to the Tokyo dome today, about a 20 min walk from Ueno, Thunder Dolphin is a ****ing good ride. I nearly had a heart attack followed by having my head nearly ripped from my body. Cool coaster.

Not a good selling point for a coaster, especially at Expo-Land.

Thanx! I now that Shibuja and Shinjuku are busy places. Someone actually recomended to stay in one of these areas. But I appriciate your feed back. We are staying for only 5 days in Tokyo, and want to stay in a nice clean hotel with easy acces to sights and hang-out-bars. If you guys have a special hotel to recomend, I will be super-happy(-:

All of Tokyo has easy access to sites and bars...At least the first hotel you mentioned I would call sketchy, and the second one is better, but the rooms are pretty small. Lok for hotels on the Yamanote Line (Tokyo Loop Line) and prices can drop dramatically if you are a 10 minute walk as opposed to a 2 minute walk to the station.

here is more information about the Yamanote line : (Yamanote Line - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

@OP : it is a good spot but Shibuya is cool and Shinjuku too but be careful because in the night there are many Yakuza

The yakuza won't bother foreigners because it will draw attention to them so ignore that advice...

Foreigners need not worry about yakuza, and they are not vampires that only appear at night. Hotels in this area are like getting a hotel in the middle of Times Square. Prices sky-rocket just because that's the prices of rent, where only a few minutes away you can find someplace much nicer and cheaper.
