Is the weather so much horrible in may-june-july ?? - 04-29-2008, 05:48 AM

hello everyone, first post here and indeed it is a question

Well im actually planning a trip to japan for this summer. I was looking to go there from may 15 to june 15 but im not so sure anymore. Ive heard that it can rain every single around that time. I guess this means less tourists but it could also mess up my whole schedule and overall appreciation of japan

Is it that much horrible ? should i consider going june 15 - july 15 instead.

What do YOU think ?

Thx for reading. im looking foward for your opinions

I wish I could tell you exactly when the raining season is.

It used to be clear cut and was usually in May to June.

I don't know whether it's caused by Global Warming or not but it is somewhat unpredictable.

Sometimes, it rains throughout July and August and got really hot in September and October.

Anyways, if you can change your plan, why don't you wait until mid July or something and meanwhile keep track of the weather.

Summer in Japan is not exactly the most pleasant thing to go through but it is probably better than rainy days...

Good luck!!

If I had to choose between those two, I'd choose May 15 to June 15.
The chances are that you might get just the same amount of rain for both periods, but the humidity will be much lower in May than in July.

lol

i think ive made a decision and will go from may 15 to june 15. My only concern about that is i wont be able to climb Fuji. i could but its off-season with no hut and dangerous. But then again, i tend to be adventurous so i might just go for it!

As I have said to other people, unless you are a skilled/experienced climber, don't even think about taking Fuji off-season...it will be covered in snow which will cause many problems

This varies a lot over all of Japan.

It`s already extremely warm around here - it was 30 today.

I say that it is better to go earlier than later. Rain can be unpleasant, but it`s better than the humidity... Last year, it barely rained at all during the "rainy season", so it may be the same this year.

If anyone is trying to find me… Tamyuun on Instagram is probably the easiest.
