I have just got back from Japan a few days ago.
People might enjoyed baked cookies as gifts.
However, from experience people accept small gifts easier than food.
But no one ever says no to Pocky.
I brought small gifts from Australia to give to my host family and others who were generous and helpful. In less than two weeks I ran out of Aussie gifts. People were generally very polite, generous and helpful.
