I'm talking about serviced apartments. For short term stays.
You rent them in monthly increments, you don't have to have a guarantor.
Pay the bills at the local convenience store... ect.
There's a ton of them on GaijinPot.
Usually around 50000円・month.

What are you going to do in S. Kyoto? Is that where your lady lives?

Nooo. She lives in Hokkaido.

I want to see just about as much as I can while I'm in Kyoto.
But the problem is finding it.
I have NO clue how to use trains or even buses. (I live in NC, almost non existent here.)
So I'm pretty petrified.

How are you able to do this, and why aren't you going to Hokkaido? How did you choose South Kyoto?

How am I able to do what?

I am going to Hokkaido for 1 month. Then coming to Kyoto.

And "South" Kyoto is just a small idea. I heard it was easier to transport in southern Kyoto.

Any advice on transportation?
Key point being how to find things. Other than going around asking people how to get to Kinkakuji.

Kinkakuji is in central Kyoto, just like most of the shrines you are going to want to see. There isn't a whole lot in Southern Kyoto, from how I see it on a map.

I guess I am trying to figure out what you are doing. What I am saying is, I don't understand why people think the longer you are there the better. Personally 2 months alone in Kyoto with no one there I know sounds a bit hellish. Kyoto is a beautiful and clean city with a long history, but after a week (or less) I would run out of things to do. Temples and shrines get old pretty quickly, no matter how much you love Japan (or Buddhism or Shinto)

I understand exactly what you mean. But I'm staying in Japan the entire allotted 3 months because I have to quit my job anyways.
So I have to stay somewhere.
